I know it's highly unfeasible, but wouldn't it be cool, though? I don't want to bring back that stupid argument of whether driving is a sport or not, but it's worth noting they have that thing with horses in the Olympics, and that's even less athletic. Anyways, I had this funny dream where the olympics included a few categories of spec formula driving, including autocross, short tracks and a massive 96 hours knockout team event. Cars were simple single seaters, and it was awesome.

So take the car factor out of it. Make the cars as simple as possible. Basically faster, safer go-karts. Then it truly is an athletic man vs man affair.

Would entry level Open Wheelers fit that description? They'd probably be built by different manufacturers (BMW makes sleds already), but to a closed formula. Otherwise they could use Kartcross and make both that and Motocross on dirt tracks.

I think that would be a fantastic fit. I would love to see Tanner out there Mario karting it up for the US of A lol

Now that I think about it, it would also be the most perfect in the history of everything ever opportunity to bring back national liveries.
And classic paint schemes, such as stripes, colored numbers, colored wheels, the works.

Chariot racing was part of the original ye olde ancient Olympics... So yes!

The best part would be all the qualifying events leading up to the Olympics!

Holy crap, I hadn't thought about that... Imagine local and regional autocross championships, or maybe high school and college teams competing in tournaments. I figure it would be something similar to FSAE, minus the part where the teams build the cars. I wonder how much a small one seater would cost to build and market now...
